So this roof project in Norwich needed drastic treatment.
A grade two listed building in Norwich's Cathedral Close.
It needed repairs and felt covering on the south side.
The team removed the tiles, repaired or replaced any rotten rafters before battening, felting and retiling the roof.
They say that one of the ties in the roof was part of the scaffolding that was used in the reconstruction of the cathedral spire in 1480.

Is It Renovation Or Restoration?
Carpentry repairs on a weathered door is usually referred to as renovation and carried out on site.
Restoring is to bring back into existence something that has been destroyed. One example maybe a chimney built exactly the way it was before it was destroyed. Usually with the help of pictures or an old photos.
Our work usually involves carpentry renovation and restoration.
What does Norwich Carpenter do?
Distinctive Victorian House just off the Newmarket Road
Requiring carpentry repairs and painting.
Repairs To Include Windows And Barge Boards.
Repairing window frames and high barge boards on this attractive house before painting. Berg apton, Norfolk
Originally a two bedroom this house in Bergapton was extended to become a four bedroom house.
The drips on some of the frames desperately needed repair or replacement.
Considerable rot on the right and left hand ends of the window frames was cut out and the frame treated with preservative. The holes were carefully filled using a quality two system wood filler.
Grade II Listed Work On A Farmhouse
Just South Of Norwich.
17th Century Farmhouse used as Highways Depot. The right hand room - parlour - was used as the centre of operations. Roof timbers were recent and made the house water tight. Forncett End, Norwich, Norfolk.
By the time we took this project on a demolition team had removed the chimneys, some of the windows and all the internal doors.
Fortunately a local parish councillor opposed the demolition and spot listed the old farmhouse.
The bulldozers were sent on their way and the new owners were able to apply for a council grant for a full restoration.
Renovations Include: -
1) Taking down the substandard extension on the left and replacing it with a more solid design.
2) Replacing the missing chimneys and chimney pots. They went missing after the first photo was taken - before we arrived on the scene.
3) Replacing one metre wide felt under the tiles near the eaves and replacing missing and broken tiles.
4) Restoring the decorative render work around windows, doors and on the wall just above the extension.
5) Replacing the central window on the first floor.
6) Fitting new external doors.
7) Bringing all the services - electricity, water and sewage - from the road to the house.
9) Planning the fireplace renovation for downstairs.
We bring new life back to old buildings.

What Customers Say
I’m sorry that I wasn’t there when you left today. I know that we’ll be in touch about the garage roof, but I wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for the excellent job that you have done with painting the outside of the house. I have been noting throughout your painstaking care with the carpentry when replacing or restoring the rotten parts of the woodwork, also, the careful preparation of surfaces for painting and the ensuing beautiful paintwork. Your charge for the work has been most reasonable and we are looking forward to a snug winter knowing that the outside of the house is now sound. We shall miss having you and your team around - you have all been so polite and considerate and trustworthy, and patient with sorting out the knotty problem of the precise colour of the green gloss on the doors!

Thank you for a “Job well done”. It has been a joy to have you working on the summerhouse.
Less than half the price of two other quotes, we have just had our outside alley wall painted from black to white, all without the cost of scaffolding, by Hardwin Osborne.
As on previous contracts with Hardwin we found him to be everything you'd want from a decorator/carpenter and builder.
We highly recommend him to anyone looking for genuine service at an affordable price.
